about

As a genre, so-called "outsider music" has had a host of strange musical characters, from paranoid schizophrenic Wild Man Fischer, to the clueless farm girls that made up the Shaggs, to the ever popular Daniel Johnston. Many of these musicians have built up sizable cult followings over the years, yet for each on of these notable naive music are a thousand others whose work never gets to be heard by anyone. Such a musician is Colin Sanderson, a young man who has remained one of the most misunderstood and elusive characters in the discourse of modern "alternative" music. Colin was born sometime in the mid-1980s in New York City. Little is known about his early life, bit it is believed that he first learned to play the guitar when was at the tender age of years old by an old street musician simply known as "Blind Thelonious". Colin first started recording his music in late 2006, when he released an extremely odd and convoluted album entitled "Cheney Street". Despite his horrendously bad singing and poor production skills, the album retains a certain rustic charm . Just when it seemed Colin was poised for stardom, he suffered a severe nervous breakdown and became a recluse in early 2007, keeping only in contact with his close family and fifteen pet cats. He continues to record during this time, releasing a steady stream of new recordings that were released by the obscure record label FLFR ("Finger Lickin' French Rumps"). Listening to these recordings, it becomes obvious that Colin's eccentricities had finally gotten the best of him. Nontheless, songs like "Cold Turkey Blooze", "Nose Hair Stomp") and others serve as a fascinating look into the mind of a broken young man. In early June 2007, Colin disappeared without a trace, never to be heard from again. his friend Alma Jeffers remembers him fondly. "He was a good boy, always a little screwy though," she said in a recent interview. "He had a perverse love of 70s progressive rock which always put me off him, but I do surely miss him." This CD is the second volume Colin Sanderson's body of work, the sounds of which will never be produced again.
